Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, S.A., one of the biggest and most innovative wine-making companies in Portugal, has developed a range of wines throughout the years that has ensured us a solid reputation and the preference of national and international wine lovers.

Present in 7 Portuguese wine regions, with a total of 1200ha of vines from 40 different castes and 3 wine-producing centers, our market presence relies on the strengths of our dimension and of the autonomy in 70% of the production process. Each of the entities that compose Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, S.A. - Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, Quinta do Carmo and Quinta dos Loridos - has its own distinctive production center, placed within a setting with intrinsic cultural value. The dynamics generated by the intersection of these various identities, explored using the latest technology and the knowledge of a renowned team of experts, guarantees our ability, unrivalled in the competitive Portuguese market, to offer the perfect wine for any occasion.

In 1998, Commander José Berardo became the main shareholder and continued the company's mission, investing in planting new vineyards, modernizing wineries and acquiring new properties, and started a partnership with the Lafitte Rothschild Group in Quinta do Carmo.

In 2007 Bacalhôa became the largest shareholder in the Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, one of the most prestigious producers in the categories of high quality sparkling wines, spirits and table wines. The following year, the company bought Quinta do Carmo, thus increasing to 1200ha of vineyards its farm.

Bacalhôa has wineries in the most important regions of Portugal: Alentejo, Península de Setúbal (Azeitão), Lisbon, Bairrada, Dão and Douro.

It was in 1927 that 11 associates led by Domingos Silva and Ângelo Neves decided to found, in Sangalhos (Anadia), the Alliance, which already has more than 90 years of life. The company started exporting to Brazil, Africa and Europe, and today more than 50% of its production is destined for export, mainly for wines, sparkling wines and spirits, brand image of the Alliance in Portugal and around 60 countries to which it exports.

In 2007, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal acquired the majority share capital of the Aliança, becoming part of the Bacalhôa Group, and the social designation of Caves Aliança SA was changed to Aliança Vinhos de Portugal SA, at which time a institutional image.

The wines of the Alliance, such as Quinta dos Quatro Ventos, Quinta da Garrida, Quinta da Terrugem and Quinta das Baceladas, have already received several national and international awards, and the company was considered in 2005 by the prestigious US magazine Wine Spectator, one of the 20 best companies in the sector worldwide. The only one of the Iberian Peninsula included in this classification.
